Congratulations to Bailey Johnston (U13), Jordan Guy (U13), Dale Hebbard (U15), Shemaiah James (U15) and the Queensland State Team on their achievements at the ALACs held in Hobart a couple of weeks ago. The U13 QLD Team achieved a 4th place overall and also 4th in the Teams Handicap.
The QLD Team placed 2nd in the U15 Multi-event Championships.

Q U E E N S L A N D E R

Despite being a bit nippy, apparently the coldest day of the week, our four athletes did us proud.
Bailey finished the day with a BRONZE medal in the 400M and 8th in the 800M.
Jordan placed 6th in the 4x100M Relay, 7th in the TripleJump, 8th in the 200M, and 9th in the LongJump.

Dale and Shemaiah both contested the U15 Mixed 4 x 100M Relay event (two girls & two boys) and won GOLD for QLD with a new record time.
Dale contested the U15 Pentathlon and achieved a 4th placing overall, just missing out on Bronze by 23 points.  Dale's point score of 3513 points was also a QLD record (yet to be ratified).
Shemaiah also competed in the U15 Pentathlon, achieving a 5th place overall.
The point margin between 1st and 4th was only 70 points, which was close considering the winner ended up with 3583 points.

Well done to our boys, to have four athletes representing our Centre was fantastic.  Great effort guys!!!!

END OF DECEPTION BAY 2011/2012 SUMMER SEASON

The 2011/2012 DBLA athletic season has now finished.  After a very fulfilling season with only a couple of rained out nights, the most unfortunate being the final night.

We managed to get in 22 weeks of competition with 392 athletes producing heaps of PBs week-in, week-out. We also had great representations at the various carnivals across the SouthEast bringing home a swag of medals especially from the Suncoast Regional Carnival held at Caboolture back in February. We also competed in our first Inter-Centre competition in Bundaberg for athletes and parents and came home with all three winning Shields on offer. Next season it's being held in Gympie and we hope to see more competitiors make the trip north.

Well done to all the athletes who came along on Friday nights and at other various carnivals during the season, we hope you achieved what you wanted to achieve for the season and had lots of fun.
Also, A big thank-you to all the parents who helped out tirelessly during Friday nights, at Regionals, at our Open Day and during our Fundraisers. We can't function without the help of the parents, thankyou again.

Our sign-on dates for next season are:
Sunday 19th August between 10.00am - 2.00pm at Zammit Oval, and;
Friday 24th August between 5.30pm - 7.30pm at Zammit Oval. This will also double as an orientation night for new families to the Centre.

Our first Friday night of competition will be Friday 31st August starting at 5.50pm.

Please remember that if you have any ideas or comments, good or bad, please send them to the Centre's Email address.
